How Long Does It Take For A Fence To Be Installed

The unfortunate answer is: it depends. However, we know what it depends on. Of all the factors that affect the fence installation timeline, some factors include whether it’s the entire process or actual installation days, the short-term weather forecast, and permitting process. Fence material, the time of the year, and any necessary digging on your property will also affect the fence installation timeline. But there’s plenty more to divulge.

The Fence Installation Process

While it might seem like someone could call in the morning and be able to get a fence up on the same day, there’s typically a process to completing a fence installation. The first step is to make an appointment to get an estimate where you can discuss the goals and scope of your project with a professional who has plenty of knowledge and experience. If the project is small and/or simple, then we may be able to give you an estimate right there. If the project is not that simple, then you will typically receive an email or call about the estimate within a couple of days. Then there will be discussions regarding paperwork, especially permit paperwork which will most likely have to be submitted to your municipality’s zoning office.

Timeline Factors

The paperwork alone may take some time to process, so it depends on a couple of different things already. However, material lead time can be another large factor in your fence installation timeline. If we have the materials you need on-hand, then the lead time for it should not be long at all. However, if you need a material that is not currently in our inventory and will need to be ordered, there could be a delivery lead time of weeks for the order. Standard material will take less time, and more customized material will typically take longer. As mentioned, too, the time of year, short-term weather forecast, and digging all affect each other which then affects your fence installation timeline. Fall is the most uninterrupted time to install a fence. Winter can be the most difficult to work in, and summer could be the busiest making it harder for us to get to you sooner. The only way to know for sure what your fence installation timeline looks like is to discuss it with us at 855-292-2757 (855 BY-CARLS).
